Panthers to Battle Buckeyes in Season's Final Dual Meet

PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh swimming & diving teams conclude their 2018-19 regular season dual meet schedule with a trip to nationally ranked Ohio State on Friday evening.
The ACC-Big Ten matchup will begin at 4 p.m. from Ohio State's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio.
Coming off strong performances to earn victory over rival West Virginia and complete a sweep of the Western Pennsylvania Invitational, both the Pitt men and women face one of their biggest dual challenges of the season against the Buckeyes, who were ranked No. 13 on the men's side and No. 15 amongst the women's teams in the most recent CSCAA Coaches Top 25 poll.
Leading the Pitt swimmers will be reigning Pitt Athletics Student-Athletes of the Week, sophomore Blaise Vera and junior Madelyn Shaffer, who both set school records last weekend at Trees Pool with victorious swims in the Western Pennsylvania Invitational.
Freshmen Wesley Ahart and Amy Read highlight a talented corps of Pitt divers that also have opened the calendar year by winning events at Trees Pool and hope to take that form onto the road.
The Panthers' dual against Ohio State will feature shorter distances in the swimming events as both Pitt and the Buckeyes finalize preparations for their upcoming conference championship meets.
