Panthers to Complete Rescheduled Match against NC State Tuesday Night
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh men's soccer team is set to complete its rescheduled match against No. 18 NC State Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 7 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.

LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt fell to No. 6 Louisville, 1-0, Friday, Sept. 21 at Lynn Stadium in Louisville, Ky.
- A penalty kick goal in the 79th minute of the match gave the Cardinals the win.
- Senior Shane Wiedt and sophomore Edward Kizza led the Panthers with two shots each, while senior Javi Perez and sophomores Alexander Dexter and Marcony Pimentel added one apiece.
SURVEYING THE STATS
- Five different Panthers have scored a goal so far this season in Kizza, Perez, Pimentel, redshirt senior Robby Dambrot and redshirt freshman Fiorre Mane.
- Kizza leads the team with five scores, followed by Perez with two. Dambrot, Mane and Pimentel have each netted one goal apiece.
- Pitt has also seen seven players record assists on the season.
- Dambrot, Pimentel, Dexter, sophomore Jose Luis Sena Arbona and freshmen Nyk Sessock, Alec Townsend and Chandler Vaughn have all added one helper each.
SIZING UP THE 2018 SLATE
- Pitt faces some tough competition in the 2018 season, with a schedule that includes 12 NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago.
- The Panthers have already faced four ranked opponents this season in then-ranked No. 25 Colgate, No. 4 Akron, No. 5 North Carolina and No. 6 Louisville.
- Of Pitt's remaining 10 matches, five teams are currently ranked in the top 25 of the United Soccer Coaches Poll, while one other squad is receiving votes.
KIZZA COMMANDING ATTENTION
- Coming off a freshman campaign in which he scored four goals, Kizza has already notched five goals through seven games this season.
- The Kampala, Uganda native currently leads the team in shots (18), shots on goal (11), points (10) and goals (five).
- Kizza netted three goals in Pitt's second match of the season against Delaware Monday, Aug. 27, making him just the 20th player in program history to record a hat trick.
- The sophomore's goal in the opening minutes of the contest was also the quickest goal to start a game in school history, coming just 1:40 into the match and besting the previous record of 1:58 set in 2006.
THE SERIES – NC STATE
- The Panthers and Wolfpack have met just five times in program history, with NC State holding a 3-1-1 all-time series edge over Pitt.
- In their most recent meeting, NC State earned a 3-0 win against the Panthers Saturday, Oct. 16, 2016 in Raleigh, N.C.
- Pitt's lone victory against the Wolfpack came in 1956, with the Panthers taking a 4-1 win over the Wolfpack in Pittsburgh, Pa.
- Head coach Jay Vidovich owns a 20-3-2 all-time record against NC State during his time at both Wake Forest and Pitt.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
- NC State enters Tuesday's match with a 6-1 (1-1 ACC) record, most recently earning a 1-0 win over No. 14 Virginia Tech Friday, Sept. 21 in Raleigh, N.C.
- The Wolfpack are led by head coach George Kiefer, who enters his second season with the program. Kiefer has compiled a 176-93-55 (.628) overall record during more than 16 years as a head coach at both South Florida and NC State and owns a 14-7-4 (.640) record with the Wolfpack.
- Through seven games, junior Gabriel Machado leads NC State with three goals, while eight other players have recorded one goal apiece.
- In net, sophomore keeper Leon Krapf has started all seven matches for the Wolfpack, collecting four shutouts while recording 18 saves and allowing five goals.
