Pitt to Open Fall Season against Slippery Rock

The Panthers will Host The Rock for a Doubleheader Sunday
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh softball team is set to open its fall ball season with a doubleheader against Slippery Rock University Sunday, Sept. 16 beginning at 1 p.m. at Vartabedian Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.
The Panthers head into their fall schedule looking to carry over their momentum from the 2018 season under first-year head coach Jodi Hermanek.
Pitt return's 15 players from a roster that won its first ACC Coastal Division Championship in program history a season ago. Returning to the team are seniors Sarah Dawson, Marissa DeMatteo, Gabrielle Fredericks, Olivia Gray, Taylor Myers, Taylor Rahach, Alexis Solak and Nava Susi, juniors Alexee Haynes, Brittany Knight, Kaitlyn Kruger and Connor McGaffic and sophomores Morgan Batesole, Brie Horrell and Hunter Levesque.
Among the returnees are multiple key contributors to last year's success. Kruger earned NFCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team recognition a season ago, while Gray received First Team All-ACC honors and Levesque was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team.
The Panthers also welcome four newcomers to the team in freshmen Hannah Bach, Abby Edwards, Kaytlyn Pavlick and Sarah Seamans.

Pitt will travel to Columbus, Ohio, for contests with Wright State and Ohio State Sunday, Sept. 23 beginning at 1:15 p.m.
