Three Panthers Named to All-ACC Academic Team

Gray, Hershman and Zeremenko Earn Honors
GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Pittsburgh softball players Olivia Gray, Erin Hershman and Giorgiana Zeremenko were named to the 2018 All-ACC Academic Softball Team, as announced by league officials Monday morning.
The trio helped lead the Panthers to its first ACC Coastal Division Title in program history, as well as their second trip in four years to the ACC Tournament Championship game.
Gray, a junior majoring in rehabilitation science and a three-time Dean's List member, earns her third All-ACC Academic honor after having a successful year on and off the field. She was an All-ACC First Team selection, starting all 52 games for the Panthers. Gray finished the season with a .311 average, 50 hits, 29 runs and 25 RBIs. In the classroom, she finished with a 3.80 GPA during the spring semester.
Hershman, a senior who graduated with a degree in communication sciences, earned her second All-ACC Academic selection after posting a 3.57 GPA in the spring and being named to the Dean's List for the third time. She was a 2018 ACC All-Tournament Team member, appearing in 51 of Pitt's 52 total games in the outfield. The recent graduate ended the season with 28 hits, 22 runs and 19 RBIs.
Zeremenko, a senior who graduated with a degree in exercise science, had one of her most successful seasons with the Panthers in 2018. A NFCA All-Region First Team honoree and All-ACC First Team selection, she left Pitt as the career home runs leader with 46 and ranks second all-time in RBIs with 127. In 2018, Zeremenko led the Panthers in batting average (.340), on-base percentage (.464), slugging percentage (.714), hits (50), walks (34), home runs (15) and doubles (10). She is a two-time member of the Dean's List.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
