Pitt’s Peters Wins 5000m Race at Colonial Relays

Senior Earns First Victory of Career

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Pitt senior Rebecca Peters earned the first win of her career Friday night, claiming the women's 5000m race at the Colonial Relays with a time of 16:57.94 at Zable Stadium.

In addition to Peters, three Panthers made top 10 finishes in distance events. To start the day, sophomore Danté Watson placed fifth in the men's 800m, crossing the finish line in 1:51.48. Junior Miranda Salvo won her 800m heat and placed eighth overall at 2:11.50. To round out the trio, Melanie Vlasic took seventh place in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a personal record time of 10:55.79.

Juniors Sebastian Curtin and Natalie Hilton were Pitt's top finishers in the men's and women's 1500m races, respectively. Curtin placed 27th on the men's side at 3:58.17, and Hilton placed 30th with a time of 4:41.56.

UP NEXT

Pitt will compete in just one event to close the Colonial Relays Saturday: the women's 4x800m relay, set for 10:15 a.m. at Zable Stadium in Williamsburg, Va.
