PITTSBURGH—Past Pitt men's basketball star Steven Adams of the Oklahoma City Thunder is a finalist for the prestigious NBA Sportsmanship Award, the NBA announced this week.
Adams is one of six players named finalists for the honor, which recognizes the NBA player who most "exemplifies the ideals of sportsmanship on the court with ethical behavior, fair play and integrity."
The winner will be announced June 25 live on TNT at the annual NBA Awards in Los Angeles. Charlotte Hornets guard Kemba Walker received the 2017 award, which dates back to the 1995-96 season.
The 24-year-old Adams had a career-best regular season with the Thunder, averaging 13.9 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per game, in helping Oklahoma City reach the NBA Playoffs for the third consecutive season.
The Thunder finished the 2017-18 regular season fourth in the Western Conference with a record of 48-34. OKC is currently tied 1-1 with the Utah Jazz in their first-round playoffs series.
