Junior Leads Trio of Record Breakers
RESULTS: SAN FRANCISCO STATE DISTANCE CARNIVAL | TEXAS RELAYS | RALEIGH RELAYS | STANFORD INVITATIONAL
PITTSBURGH – While three Panthers broke the Pitt record in the outdoor mile on the same day, junior Miranda Salvo set the new school standard at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival in Hayward, Calif., Saturday.
Pitt track and field competed at four separate meets over the weekend. Below are highlights from each competition.

SAN FRANCISCO STATE DISTANCE CARNIVAL (Hayward, Calif.)
- Salvo won the mile in 4:51.89, breaking a 20-year-old mark set by Anna-Rebekka Kohler in 1998 (5:03.00). Seniors Amy Kelly (second, 4:57.16) and Rebecca Peters (fourth, 5:02.94) also ran under the old standard.
CLYDE LITTLEFIELD TEXAS RELAYS BUILT BY THE HOME DEPOT (Austin, Texas)
- The women's 4x400m relay team of seniors Morgan Harvey, Quadaisha Newkirk, Laila Ismail and Desiree Garland won its section with a time of 3:36.56.
- The men's 4x200m relay team of Jabari Michael-Khensu, Ade Jones-Roundtree, Lonzell Feagin and Noah Cook placed seventh at 1:25.12.
RALEIGH RELAYS (Raleigh, N.C.)
- Redshirt sophomore Grant Jones took third place in men's javelin at 62.76m, logging his best mark since the 2016 ACC Outdoor Championships (63.27m).
- Senior Andin Fosam placed 11th in women's hammer throw with a toss of 51.59m.
STANFORD INVITATIONAL (Stanford, Calif.)
- Sophomore Danté Watson had Pitt's top finish in the men's 800m, coming in 13th at 1:51.44.
UP NEXT
- The Panthers will travel to Williamsburg, Va., for the Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary April 5-7 at Zable Stadium.
