• Pitt begins a #ZooEra of men's basketball under new head coach Jeff Capel by opening the 2018-19 season at home against Youngstown State.
• The Panthers are 77-34 all-time in season openers. Pitt had won 20 consecutive season-opening contests prior to falling at Navy, 71-62, in the Veterans Classic a year ago.

• Graduate transfer Sidy N'Dir brings winning experience to the Pitt program after helping New Mexico State to a 69-23 record and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearance over the past three seasons. N'Dir averaged 7.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 71 career games (43 starts) with the Aggies. He missed all but nine games in 2016-17 win a foot injury.
• Pitt's freshmen class of Xavier Johnson, Trey McGowens and Au'Diese Toney combined for 28 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals, while going 12-of-19 (.632) from the field, in the exhibition game win over Pitt-Johnstown.
• Jared Wilson-Frame ranks 11th among the ACC leading returning scorers after averaging 13.0 points per game a year ago. His 74 three-point field goals in 2017-18 ranks sixth among returning players in the ACC.
• The Panthers set a school record with 795 three-point field goal attempts last season. Pitt's 258 made threes were the second most in program history. Jared Wilson-Frame (74) led the Panthers in made threes last season.
