
Track & Field Opens Up Indoor Season With Blue And Gold Meet On Saturday

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh track and field team will open up its 2018-19 indoor season on Saturday, December 1 by hosting the annual Blue-Gold Meet inside the Charles L. Cost Sport Center. The intrasquad meet will run from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.
Field events will begin at 9:00 am on Friday morning in the Cost Center with the weight throw kicking things off. The high jump will be next at 9:30 am followed by shot put (9:45 am), long jump (10:00 am) and the triple jump (11:00 am).
Following a welcome message from head coach Alonzo Webb at 10:00 am, prelims for the women's 60m hurdles will open up the track events for the day at 10:05 am. The men's 60m hurdles will be next at 10:10 am followed by the men's and women's 60m prelims at 10:20 am and 10:30 am, respectively. The finals for the 60m men and women hurdles will be next up at 10:45 am and 10:55 am and wrapping things up in the morning session will be the finals in the 60m men and women races at 11:20 am and 11:30 am, respectively.
After a break in the afternoon, the events will continue at 3:00 pm over in the Fitzgerald Field House as the women's 150m race kicks things off. The men and women's 500m and 600m races will then take place followed by the 2K elimination races at 3:50 pm and 4:00 pm. The men and women's 300m and 800m races will be next before the 4x400m women and 4x400m men races wrap up the afternoon at 4:50 pm and 5:00 pm, respectively.
Pitt will return three athletes that earned 2017-18 Indoor All-ACC honors as Miranda Salvo earned 2nd Team All-ACC in the mile while Jabari Michael-Khensu took home 2nd team honors in the 200m and Taylor Middleton notched 2nd team accolades in the long jump. Although he didn't earn All-ACC honors, junior Dante Watson became the first Panther to qualify for the 800m indoor final and finished eighth in 1:51.77. Last season, Ade Jones-Roundtree had a strong showing in the 200m as he took home eighth place in 21.34 seconds in his freshman campaign.
