Panthers Add Two More to 2019 Recruiting Class
PITTSBURGH – Pitt softball head coach Jodi Hermanek announced Wednesday the addition of two more student-athletes to the University of Pittsburgh softball 2019 recruiting class.
The Panthers will welcome Kayla Lane and Taegen Lewellen to the program following the recent signings of Hope Alley, Emily Riggs and Makenzie Stiles.
Kayla Lane / Infield / LaGrange, Ga. / Troup County High School
HIGH SCHOOL
Attended Troup County High School … Two-time First Team and two-time Second Team All-Region honoree … Named Rookie of the Year in freshman season, Defensive Player of the Year in sophomore season, Offensive Most Valuable Player in junior season and Most Valuable Player in senior season … Hit .320 or better all four years of high school … Four-year Scholar Athlete … Four-year class Vice President.
CLUB
Plays for Firecrackers U18 Gold – McDonald team … Previously played for East Cobb Bullets and Team Alabama.
PERSONAL
Daughter of Stephen and Kristal Lane … Has two siblings, Hanna and Jake … Father played football at Ole Miss … Uncle played for the LA Dodgers.

Taegen Lewellen / Utility / Locust Grove, Ga. / Locust Grove High School
HIGH SCHOOL
Attended Locust Grove High School … Team went 107-27 over her four years … Team won the 2017 and 2018 Region 4A State Championship … Two-time First Team All-Region infielder and one-time All-Region utility player … GACA All-Star and All-State nominee in senior year … Also played basketball and golf … National Honors Society member.

Played for the Atlanta Vipers Moore … Team won the 2016 Junior Olympic Cup Championship.

Daughter of Chris and Dari Lewellen … Has two siblings, Karli and Reece.
