Panthers Take Part in Photo Day, Alumni Events amidst Practice
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh baseball team wrapped up week two of fall ball as October got underway at Charles L. Cost Field.
BRING IN BELL
The season ushers in the first for newly appointed head coach Mike Bell, who was introduced by Director of Athletics Heather Lyke on July 13. Bell joins the Panthers after a seven-year stint as the associate head coach and pitching coach at ACC powerhouse Florida State. Bell brings more than 14 years of NCAA Division I coaching experience to the Panthers and is just the fifth head coach in Pitt baseball history.

ALUMNI REUNION
It was alumni weekend for the program as head coach Mike Bell welcomed back former student-athletes in a pair of events. The group took part in a friendly competition at TopGolf Friday night before joining the Varsity Letter Club for a tailgate prior to the Pitt vs. Syracuse football game.

On getting week two underway…
"I think we've been waiting for this time for a while now since Coach Bell got hired. I think he gave us enough time to get adjusted and get ready for what's next to come."
On how he can help the newcomers adjust…
"It's definitely a new transition playing in the ACC. Whatever they're used to it's obviously a higher level of competition. I think I'm going to do the best I can to help them get used to that."
On the expectations for the 2019 season…
"We definitely have some experience in the players who are returning, and having a good run in the ACC Tournament. We're going to build off of that energy."
UP NEXT
Fall practice will continue before the Panthers open the exhibition season Friday, Oct. 12, hosting the Toronto Mets in the first of two home contests at Charles L. Cost Field. Youngstown State will visit Friday, Oct. 19 before the Panthers conclude the 2018 fall season at rival WVU on Friday, Oct. 26 for the #FallBrawl.
