
Panthers Fall Victim to Orange Home Streak, 70-52

Bradley Paces Pitt with 13 Points
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior Kauai Bradley led Pitt women's basketball (9-11, 1-6 ACC) with 13 points in a 70-52 loss at (RV/RV) Syracuse (15-5, 3-4 ACC) Sunday at the Carrier Dome.
Bradley made 4-of-6 from the field and was a perfect 3-of-3 from long range on the day. Sophomore Alayna Gribble was the only other Panther with double figures in the scoring column, scoring 10 points. Junior center Kalista Walters had nine points and eight rebounds.
The Panthers fell victim to the Orange's home streak, as Syracuse improved to 10-0 at the Carrier Dome this season. Pitt outshot Syracuse, 38.0 percent to 37.9 percent, but the Orange had the upper hand on the boards, 43-31.
The first quarter featured six lead changes, but a 12-2 Orange run to end the period put Syracuse ahead 22-13 at the first break. Diop led Pitt with six points in the frame.
Syracuse continued its hot streak to start the second period, using a 12-5 opening run to reach its largest lead of the half (34-18) with 6:08 before halftime. Rodriguez hit two triples in the period, posting her first points since she had nine against Chicago State (Dec. 31). Walters made a layup to end the half with the Panthers trailing, 44-31.
The Orange went on a 9-3 run over the first four minutes of the third quarter to achieve a largest lead of 19 (53-34) at 6:28. Syracuse tied that margin twice more in the period, at the 4:04 mark (59-40) and at 2:48 (62-43). Two free throws from Bradley closed the gap to 15 (62-47) heading into the final period.
Neither team was able to get much offense going in the fourth quarter, with Syracuse holding an 8-5 advantage in the period and claiming the final score, 70-52.
