Panthers, Mountaineers Clash for 48th Time

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh men's soccer is set to host long-time rival West Virginia Tuesday, Sept. 26. Non-conference action is set to get underway at 7 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.
The Panthers enter Tuesday's match 3-5-0 overall, while the Mountaineers are 6-1-2 overall.

GAME PROMOTIONS
- Tuesday's #BackyardBrawl will feature a pregame party for students hosted by head men's basketball coach Kevin Stallings. Members of the men's basketball team will also be in attendance.
- Student's in attendance will receive free food and drinks, while the first 50 students will receive a free Pitt soccer scarf.
- 2017-18 Oakland Zoo shirts will be on sale at the Petersen Sports Complex.

- The Panthers and Mountaineers clash for the 48th time in program history.
WVU leads the all-time series 33-9-5.
- Although meeting in exhibition a year ago, the two teams have not played a regular season game since 2011.
- Second-year head coach Jay Vidovich is 2-0-0 versus West Virginia.

- Pitt dropped a 3-0 decision on the road Friday, Sept. 22 at No. 8 Clemson.
- Prior to making the trip to South Carolina, the Panthers picked up a 2-1 win over cross-town foe Robert Morris Tuesday, Sept. 19.

- West Virginia is off to a solid start in 2017 with an overall record of 6-1-2.
-The Mountaineers were receiving votes in the Sept. 19 United Coaches Poll.
-WVU is currently on a three-game win streak and are 4-1-0 when playing on the road.
-West Virginia is currently led by sophomore Albert Andrew-Llop with 10 points (4 goals/2 assists).
-Senior Jad Arslan is close behind with nine points (4 goals/1 assist).
-In goal, junior Stephen Banick has started and played in all nine games this season. The keeper has allowed five goals and has made 25 saves.
-The Mountaineers concluded the 2016 campaign 8-7-1 overall while finishing 1-4 in the Mid-American Conference.
- The 2016 season was highlighted by defender Jack Elliott being drafted by the Philadelphia Union in the fourth round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft.
