Former Pitt Basketball Center to Play Overseas
PITTSBURGH – Pitt's Brandi Harvey-Carr has signed a professional contract to play women's basketball for Widzew Lódz of Poland's Basket Liga Kobiet, announced Wednesday.
"We are so proud of Brandi for pursuing her dreams and taking her basketball career to the next level," Pitt head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio said. "Although her time at Pitt was short, she made a big impact on our team. She is an extremely talented athlete and I look forward to watching her continue to grow as a professional."
The 6-foot-4 center played for the University of Pittsburgh during her final year of eligibility as a graduate transfer in 2016-17 and ranked second on the team in scoring (9.6 ppg) and rebounding (4.7 rpg). She started 29 of 30 games and led the Panthers with 1.0 blocked shots and 2.3 offensive rebounds per game. She had a season-high 25 points at Louisville (Jan. 8) and pulled down a season-best 10 rebounds in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge game against Purdue (Nov. 30).
"I am extremely excited to begin the next chapter of my life as a professional basketball player," Harvey-Carr said. "I am very appreciative to the Widzew organization for allowing me the opportunity to play the sport that I love and travel the world. I intend to have an impact on and off the court; helping my teammates as well as myself get better each and every day."
A Camden, N.J., native, Harvey-Carr attended Leap Academy, where she was a two-time MVP and the 2012 South Jersey scoring leader. She began her collegiate career at DePaul University, where she played three seasons.
