Baseball Top 17 from 2017: Panthers Come from Behind for 10-Inning Win at Duke

The Panthers wrapped up their fourth season as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The 2017 season saw ups and downs as a young Panther squad gained valuable experience in the nation's premier baseball league.
A single off the bat of P.J. DeMeo proved the deciding factor as the Panthers rallied for a 10-inning win at Duke, tying the series at a game apiece, before Pitt would move on to capture the series win.
Trailing heading into the ninth, Manny Pazos led off the frame with a single, as pinch runner Kaylor Kulina moved to second on a successful sacrifice bunt by Alex Amos. An RBI single up the middle by Nico Popa scored Kulina, as the Panthers tied the contest at 8-8.
In the 10th, Frank Maldonado ripped a one-out single up the middle, taking third after a single by Nick Banman. DeMeo would bring Maldonado home in the next at bat, as the Panthers took a one-run lead. Isaac Mattson would toss his second flawless inning, retiring the Blue Devils in order to secure the win.
