LAST TIME OUT
- Prior to the team's bye week, Pitt went 2-1 against NC State in its final home series of the season.
- The Panthers dropped a heartbreaker in game one 13-10 (eight innings), before coming back to defeat the Wolfpack 4-2 and 4-3 (nine innings) in games two and three.
- In the series finale, Pitt entered the seventh inning trailing 3-0, before a pair of home runs from McKayla Taylor and Erin Hershman tied the game. After a scoreless eighth, freshman Kaitlyn Kruger blasted her first career home run to push the Panthers past the Wolfpack.
THE SERIES
- Pitt currently leads Georgia Tech 9-4 in the all-time meetings. In the most recent match-up, the Panthers took two-out-of-three from Yellow Jackets, winning the last game 9-4 April 17, 2016.
A FAMILIAR FACE
- Pitt will see a familiar face in Georgia Tech's dugout this weekend as former Panther standout Shelby Pickett is currently a graduate assistant for the Yellow Jackets.
- Pickett came to Pitt after spending two years at Ohio State. She quickly became a key to Pitt's string of success, helping the Panthers reach their first ACC Championship and NCAA Regional Final appearance in 2015. She was an NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region second team selection, an ACC All-Tournament team honoree and an All-ACC second team recipient during that year.
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
- Georgia Tech enters the weekend with a 17-33 overall record and a 6-15 mark in ACC play.
- The Yellow Jackets are led by Jessica Kowalewicz, who is hitting .325 with 51 hits. She is one of just two players who have started every game for Georgia Tech. The power at the plate comes from Kelsey Chisholm and Samantha Pierannunzi, who both have hit 10 home runs apiece. Chisholm leads the team with 38 RBIs.
- The Yellow Jackets utilize three different pitchers with Emily Anderson leading the way. She has recorded nine wins and holds a team-leading 3.99 ERA. She has struck out 99 in 147.1 innings pitched.
