Pitt Brings Home Hardware from Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - The Pitt track and field teams completed weekend competition Saturday, with the men's 4x800m relay team returning with a trophy from the 123rd Penn Relay Carnival at historic Franklin Field.
The Panthers' squad of Nate Sloan, Matt McGoey, Billy Caldwell and Drew Glick championed the college section of the event at 7:28.66.
PENN RELAYS HIGHLIGHTS
- Senior Chris Spadaro opened Day 3 of competition for the Panthers, placing 12 in triple jump with a leap of 14.16m.
- In the Panthers' first College Championship of America race, the men's 4x200m relay, the team of Jabari Michael-Khensu, Jamaree Murray, Desmond Palmer and Brylan Slay placed sixth at 1:24.37.
- The women's 4x800m team of Sam Shields, Anja Weiler, Erin O'Connell and Kelly Hayes took ninth in the college women's section at 9:10.18.
- Both the men's and women's 4x400m relay teams took seventh place in their respective Championship of America finals. The team of Brylan Slay, Jamaree Murray, Dante Watson and Desmond Palmer clocked in at 3:08.77, and Morgan Harvey, Desiree Garland, Laila Ismail and Quadaisha Newkirk finished at 3:37.42.
ASHLAND OPEN HIGLIGHTS
- Freshman Shyheim Wright was runner-up in the men's 110m hurdles, clocking in at 14.66.
- Junior Jessie Wallace placed fifth in women's discus at 42.08m.

Pitt will travel to Atlanta, Ga., for the ACC Outdoor Championships hosted by Georgia Tech at George C. Griffin Track & Field Facility, May 12-14.
