Pitt Softball Earns NFCA DI All-Academic Honors

Three Student-Athletes Tabbed All-America Scholar Athletes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The 2016-17 University of Pittsburgh softball team earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-Academic honors, while three student-athletes from last year's squad garnered All-America Scholar Athlete status, as announced by the organization Tuesday, Oct. 10.
As a team, Pitt maintained a GPA above a 3.0, while Juniors Olivia Gray and Alexis Solak, in addition to former Panther Hannah Edwards each held a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the respective academic year.
A record 7,351 softball players across seven membership divisions were honored by the NFCA. NCAA Division I led the way with 1,843 student-athletes. Division III fell next with 1,825 student-athletes, while High School weighted and unweighted posted 751 and 609 honorees apiece. NAIA amassed 559 recipients and Junior College totaled 496.
