Q&A
What made you choose Pitt?
I loved the diversity of the city because I am from a very small town. Pitt also provides a combination of highly-competitive academics and athletics, which really appealed to me. I wanted to be challenged in the classroom and on the field, so Pitt was the perfect fit for me.
What are your biggest strengths as a player?
My heart, hustle, speed, and overall "game-smarts" allow me to excel and out-think my opponents. I think ahead and adjust to situations in order to put myself in a better position to succeed, which contributes to overall team success. I also possess grit and mental toughness, and I absolutely hate to lose! I love to compete!
What are some areas of the game you'd like to improve in?
I'd really like to become more of an offensive threat by adding more power to my game. If I compliment my slapping skill set of bunt, soft, chop, and hard slap with hitting away, it will put more pressure on the defense. Defensively, I would like to be more aggressive and precise with specific reads and movements towards the ball.
What is your (intended) major?
Rehabilitation Science
What are three words that describe you?
Analytical, Passionate, Genuine
What are your hobbies and interests outside of softball?
You'll catch me taking a nap anytime I don't have things to do. I love sleep! I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I'm always up for a new adventure, especially outdoors.
Do you have any pre-game rituals or superstitions?
I spit on my batting gloves before every at bat and lick them in between pitches.
What are some of the differences between your hometown and Pittsburgh?
My hometown is a very quaint place, where everyone knows everything about you. It's built on strong traditions and a strong sense of community, which creates a bond between everyone who lives there. There are so many more people in Pittsburgh, so it definitely provides a different perspective for me.
If you could bring one thing from your hometown to Pittsburgh, what would it be?
Nature: specifically mountains, trees, and corn fields
What is the best advice you've ever been given?
God has a plan, so trust the process, and always stay true to yourself.
If you could meet three people (past or present) who would you want to meet? Why?
1. Derek Jeter: He carried himself in a respectful way on and off the field and did things the right way.
2. Jesus Christ: I would love to be in his presence and listen to him speak.
3. Pat Summitt: When I was younger, it was my dream to play basketball for her at Tennessee. She's one of the best coaches of all time.
If you could be a star in any sport, other than softball, which one would it be?
Field Hockey
Who had the greatest impact on your life? Why?
Definitely my dad. He's molded me into the person and athlete I am today, and I am truly thankful for him. Not only does he push me to excel academically and athletically, but he's guided me to be compassionate, hardworking, and genuine towards everything I do in life. My toughness and drive are inspired from him. He's one of a kind!
