Bell, Price Earn First National Bank Weekly Honors

PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh student-athletes Mariah Bell and Ejuan Price were named First National Bank Athletes of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Bell, a junior outside hitter, posted 34 kills in 70 attempts and committed just eight errors over three matches played this weekend. The Moorpark, Calif., native hit .371 while producing 3.78 kills per set. In the Panthers’ opening match against WKU, Bell tied her career high in kills with 20 and hit consistently has she finished with a .333 hitting percentage. She also produced two service aces and eight digs. Bell returned to the court the following night and added 12 kills against Robert Morris and posted a .500 hitting percentage after committing just a single error in 22 attempts.
Price, a senior defensive end, leads the nation in forced fumbles (1.00 per game) and ranks fourth in quarterback sacks (1.50 avg.) and tackles for loss (2.50 avg.). He compiled six total tackles, four tackles for loss, two quarterback sacks and a forced fumble that Pitt scooped up for a touchdown against Oklahoma State Saturday. His TFLs went for 15 yards in losses. The Rankin, Pa., native was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week Monday.
Pitt volleyball (9-3) will host Georgia Tech (9-3) to begin ACC play Friday at Fitzgerald Field House. The Panthers will face the Yellow Jackets at 7 p.m. ET on ACC Network Extra, available on the WatchESPN app.
The Pitt football team (2-1) will kick off ACC play against North Carolina (2-1) Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET in Chapel Hill. The game will be televised by ESPNU.
