McConnell-Serio Leads USA Past Guatemala

VALDIVIA, Chile - Pitt basketball head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio led the USA U18 team past Guatemala, 117-32, Wednesday night in the first game of the preliminary round of the FIBA Americas Championship in Valdivia, Chile.
Chennedy Carter paced the squad with 17 points, while Rellah Boothe grabbed 13 boards and Tyasha Harris contributed eight assists.
Team USA out-rebounded Guatemala 73-24, as well as out-scoring their opponent in fast break points (42-2) and points in the paint (66-12).
McConnell-Serios' team netted 64 points in the first half and recorded 53 in the second.
The team returns to action Thursday, July 14 at 6 p.m. to take on Brazil in the second of three preliminary games.
