Giordano, Sharp Advance to NCAA Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Taking to the pool for the second day of the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, Meme Sharp and Dominic Giordano earned spots on the NCAA lineup, as Sharp (3M) and Giordano (1M) will both represent the Panthers at the national meet.
Earning her second NCAA qualifying mark of the competition, Sharp posted a combined prelim and final score of 640.10 on the 3M board to finish as the third qualifier. Yesterday, she took fourth on the 1M with a mark of 567.00.
Sharp joins Addison Walkowiak (Rutgers), Ashlynn Peters (Virginia Tech), Rebecca Corbett (Virginia), Alyssa Black (Rutgers) and Alexandra Butera (Connecticut) as the six divers who will compete on the 3M board.
Giordano earned a combined prelim and final score of 692.40 to post the second-highest qualifying score and punch his ticket for the NCAA Championships in Atlanta. He joins Hector Garcia Boissier (Penn State), Benjamin Schiesl (Virginia Tech) and Logan Knauss (Penn State) as the four qualifiers for the men’s 1M and earned the highest score of any ACC diver.
In the preliminary round of the men’s 1M competition, Tony Galante earned 29th with a score of 250.05.
On the women’s side, Samantha Winkelmann (240.80) placed 20th in the preliminary round, while teammates Rachel Saunders (213.10) and Cheyenne Neuenschwander (207.40) earned 39th and 42nd, respectively.
The Panthers will conclude action tomorrow as both the men and the women compete on the platform from the U.S. Naval Academy. Live stats will be available here.
