PITTSBURGH – The 21st ranked Pitt wrestling team (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of No. 11 Lehigh (2-0) Friday night in the Fitzgerald Field House.
"I think it was a tough night for us," head coach Jason Peters said. "Lehigh came here to hustle and they wrestled that way. They were just better than us tonight and they beat us on the whistle in a lot of positions. I think there were some good fights, but obviously not enough to beat a team like Lehigh."
Pittsburgh natives Dom Forys and TeShan Campbell were the lone Panthers to record wins in the dual.
Forys, the eighth-ranked wrestler at 133 pounds, put Pitt within one after a 9-4 decision over No. 18 Scott Parker, 4-3. With the victory, Forys improves to 4-0 this season and 49-19 in his career.
Campbell, the 13th-ranked wrestler at 165 pounds, also improved his season record to 4-0 after his win. Competing at a new weight class this season, Campbell came out of the gate ready to battle as he secured a win by technical fall in just 2:44 with a final score of 16-1.
After just four duals this season, Forys and Campbell combine for 31 of Pitt's 70 total team points.
The Panthers resume action Sunday, Nov. 20, as they look to defend their title at the Keystone Classic in Philadelphia.
