Solomon Named ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Redshirt junior Ryan Solomon of the Pitt wrestling team (3-0) was named ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week, as announced by the league Wednesday morning.
Solomon collected the weekly honor alongside fellow heavyweight Ty Walz of Virginia Tech. This is the first weekly honor for Solomon.
The Milton, Pa., native, ranked No. 14 this week by InterMat at 285 pounds, lifted the Panthers to victory in their dual meet with Edinboro. Pitt trailed 16-14 heading to the final bout of the day. Facing then-ranked No. 16 Billy Miller, Solomon pinned Miller in 2:58 giving the Panthers a 20-16 win over the Fighting Scots.
Solomon's individual win marks the fourth time in his career that he has lifted the Panthers to victory when trailing entering the final bout at 285 pounds.
No. 21 Pitt returns to the Fitzgerald Field House for the home opener Friday, Nov. 18, to take on No. 11 Lehigh at 7 p.m.
