Pitt Softball Announces Fall/Winter Camps

PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh softball coach Holly Aprile and staff have announced their upcoming fall/winter camps.
The Panthers will be offering four different clinics, three in November and one in December, all of which will be held at the Charles L. Cost Sports Center on Pitt’s campus.
2016 Pitt Softball Hitting Clinic
Date: Sunday, Nov. 6
Time: 9 - 11:30 a.m. [check-in begins at 8:30 a.m.]
Location: Charles L. Cost Indoor Sports Center
Cost: $70
Team Rate: $55 [8 or more girls from same team | contact Lauren Cognigni for more information]
Who: Girls, grades 7-12
Description: The Hitting Clinic is engineered for the athlete who wants to become an elite hitter. The clinic will work on skills such as the mechanics and fundamentals of hitting, including mental approach and vision. The coaches will also touch on the mechanics and fundamentals of short game, along with the proper fundamentals and techniques that will work to increase both power and average.
2016 Pitt Softball Beginners Pitching Clinic
Date: Sunday, Nov. 20
Time: 8:30 - 10 a.m. [check-in begins at 8 a.m.]
Location: Charles L. Cost Indoor Sports Center
Cost: $60
Who: Girls, grades 6-9 who have not mastered any spin pitches
Description: The Beginners Pitching Clinic is designed for pitchers who have a fastball and changeup, or want to learn either pitch. The focus will be on the basic fundamentals of the fastball and changeup, along with drills to perfect the circle and increase arm speed and leg drive.
2016 Pitt Softball Advanced Pitching Clinic
Date: Sunday, Nov. 20
Time: 10:30 a.m. - Noon [check-in begins at 10 a.m.]
Location: Charles L. Cost Indoor Sports Center
Cost: $60
Who: Girls, grades 9-12
Description: The Advanced Pitching Clinic is designed for the pitcher who has a serious interest in pitching at the collegiate level and has knowledge of two or more spin pitches. The clinic will consist of drills that increase speed and balance in the pitching motion. Also covered will be advanced movement pitch instruction, including drop, curve, rise and screw.
2016 Pitt Softball Elite Prospect Camp
Date: Sunday, Dec. 4
Time: 8:30 a.m. - Noon [check-in begins at 8 a.m.]
Location: Charles L. Cost Indoor Sports Center
Cost: $100
Who: Girls, grades 8-12
Description: The Elite Prospect Camp is designed for all student-athletes in grades 9-12 who have a serious interest in playing softball at the collegiate level. There will be advanced skill development, where during the first part of camp players will be divided into their positions. From there, Pitt staff and players will instruct on advanced position-specific skills. In addition to the skill development component, there will be live in-game evaluation, where there will be live at-bats and in game situations to further evaluate and learn in-game concepts.
All clinics are open to any and all entrants limited only by age, grade level, and/or gender. The operations and activities for these clinics/camps are not owned or operated by the University of Pittsburgh.
