PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh softball team and head coach Holly Aprile concluded fall exhibition play which consisted of three doubleheaders against local and regional teams throughout September and October.
Pitt finished 5-1 overall, while hosting three of its four scheduled doubleheaders at Vartabedian Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.
Game Recaps
- Pitt began the fall season with back-to-back wins over Slippery Rock, defeating the green and white, 15-1 and 9-1 at Vartabedian Field.
-The Panthers were slated to continue their home schedule against Saint Francis (PA) but inclement weather denied the two teams from competing.
- The Panthers picked back up the following weekend as they traveled to Akron, Ohio. Pitt defeated Ohio Dominican, 12-0, and took down the Zips 3-0.
- The Panthers concluded play with a doubleheader against West Virginia Wesleyan in Pittsburgh. The home team defeated the Bobcats 8-1 in the opening game but dropped the second 4-3.

- Pitt will continue workouts throughout the fall and winter, prior to the official competition season beginning in February of 2017.
