Pitt Concludes Fall Competition with West Virginia Wesleyan

PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh softball team will wrap up fall competition Sunday, Oct. 2 as they play host to West Virginia Wesleyan at Vartabedian Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.
Game one of the doubleheader is slated for Noon. Game two will begin about 30 minutes following the conclusion of the first.
In the Panthers' last outing, the squad defeated Ohio Dominican and Akron in Ohio. Pitt took down the ODU 12-0, while outlasting the Zips 3-0.
In the first game against Ohio Dominican, junior Kayla Harris and sophomore Sarah Dawson combined for a shutout, giving up two hits and striking out seven. Junior McKayla Taylor led the offense in game two against Akron by going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI's. That was enough for the Panthers as freshman Brittany Knight held the Zips scoreless on two hits and five strikeouts.
