PITTSBURGH – Head softball coach Holly Aprile announced the addition of outfielder Taylor Myers to the 2015-16 roster. Myers will join the Panthers after signing a National Letter of Intent during the late signing period.
“I chose Pitt because I really got the home away from home feeling around campus,” Myers said. “I think it will expose me to a whole new world both socially and academically, and am looking forward to the infinite friendships and memories that I’m going to make every day, especially with my teammates.”
The California native spent four years playing varsity softball at Point Loma High School in San Diego. While at Point Loma, Myers served as team captain and received San Diego Union Tribune All-League honors in her junior and senior seasons. She was also named to the San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team in her final two seasons.
Recently, Myers played for the club team, The Next Level, where she competed at the Triple Crown 18U Nationals in each of the past two summers and traveled to other tournaments across the U.S. In 2009, Myers won an ASA Western Nationals championship while playing for the club team Mystic.
In addition to her outstanding play on the field, she has an impressive resume off the diamond as well. An excellent student, she was named to the Principal’s Honor Roll all four years of high school and received a certificate of achievement in history as a senior. Myers was also the recipient of the Donna Gann Humanitarian Award during her freshman year of high school.
Myers will join Sarah Dawson, Marissa DeMatteo, Olivia Gray and Alexis Solak as this year’s class of incoming freshmen. The five will look to help a Pitt program that is coming off a historic season in which it made it’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
Myers is the daughter of Sean and Sandi Myers and has three younger sisters, Jessica, Morgan and Amanda. She intends to major in business.
