PITTSBURGH - University of Pittsburgh baseball player Jacob Wright has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team, as announced on Monday by league officials.
A biological sciences major, Wright posted a perfect 4.00 GPA during the spring 2015 term and currently owns a stellar career GPA of 3.76. With his selection, Pitt baseball has now been represented on the conference's All-Academic Team in both years of league membership. Former top reliever Jon Danielczyk also merited recognition in 2014.
The redshirt sophomore emerged as a productive leadoff hitter in 2015, batting .282 with a .442 on-base percentage from the lineup's top spot in all but four contests. Wright currently holds the ACC's best active reached-base streak at 39 games, and came aboard in 47 of 49 games overall to spark Pitt's offense with a team-best 33 runs scored.
To be considered for All-Academic honors, student-athletes must record a 3.00 GPA for the previous semester and possess a 3.00 minimum career GPA.
