
Pitt Hosts Duquesne in City Game on Wednesday

PITTSBURGH – In the 34th rendition of the City Game, the University of Pittsburgh women’s basketball team is set to host Duquesne on Wednesday at the Petersen Events Center. Tip is set for 2 p.m.
The Panthers (8-4) have won four of their last five games and conclude non-conference action with the Dukes (11-1) who have won 10 in a row.
HOME COOKING:
The Panthers enter Wednesday’s contest with a perfect 6-0 record at the Petersen Events Center this season. Dating back to last year, the Panthers are 21-3 overall at the Pete. Pitt’s only three losses over the past two seasons have come against 2015 NCAA Tournament teams Louisville, Princeton and Syracuse.
ACC RANKS:
Pitt boasts three players who carry lofty ACC ranks. Leading the way is freshman Kalista Walters who is tied for third in field goal percentage at 58.3 percent. She is the team’s leading scorer at 12.1 ppg. Sophomore Stasha Carey is fourth in blocks per game at 1.9, while freshman Brenna Wise is 13th in the ACC in rebounding (6.6/game), and is ranked second among freshmen.
ENDING NON-CONFERENCE PLAY:
Today marks the final non-conference game of the season for Pitt. The Panthers are 18-7 in non-conference games over the past two seasons. Pitt will jump right into ACC play by hosting No. 3 Notre Dame, then traveling to No. 20 Miami.
SCOUTING DUQUESNE:
The Dukes are coming off a victory over then #25 St. John’s and are now receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Point guard April Robinson is the team’s nucleus, averaging 13.9 points and 8.3 assists per game. Her 8.3 assists per game average ranks second nationally.
