COMPLETE AVCA DIVISION I ALL-AMERICA SELECTIONS
PITTSBURGH -- University of Pittsburgh volleyball players Amanda Orchard and Kadi Kullerkann earned AVCA Division I Honorable Mention All-America accolades, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association Wednesday morning.
“Amanda [Orchard] and Kadi [Kullerkann] are the whole package,” said head coach Dan Fisher. “Both of these young women embody what it means to be a student-athlete, a warrior and all the clichés that people throw out. They are true team players, true team leaders. We are extremely proud of the honor and they both will be dearly missed from our program.”
Orchard earns Honorable Mention All-America status for the second consecutive year, following another standout season for the Panthers in 2015. The senior's .410 hitting percentage led Pitt's offense, placing her 19th overall in the nation and second in the ACC. In addition, Orchard registered 19 matches with a hitting percentage of .400 or higher and racked up 275 kills this season [2.35 kills/set].
Off the court, the Lake Zurich, Ill., native was named a finalist for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award.
This also marks Kullerkann's second consecutive selection, as she earned AVCA Division I All-America Honorable Mention recognition at Houston in her final season with the Cougars. In her final year of eligibility the graduate transfer made an immediate impact for Pitt, leading the Panthers in kills with a total of 437 [3.74 kills/set]. Additionally, Kullerkann reached double-figure kills in 21 consecutive matches, and tallied a total of 29.
Both student-athletes garnered All-ACC honors in November and were recently named AVCA All-Region selections earlier in December.
