GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Pittsburgh volleyball players Amanda Orchard and Kadi Kullerkann were selected as 2015 All-ACC First Team honorees as announced by league officials Wednesday evening.
“We are very proud of these two young women,” said head coach Dan Fisher. “What they have done on the court and how they represent Pitt is first class. I am pleased that they have been recognized as two of the best in the ACC.”
Orchard, a two-time All-ACC First-Team selection, is having another standout season for the Panthers in 2015. After being named an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention and All-Region selection in 2014, the senior leads Pitt’s offense with a .410 hitting percentage. This average places her 19th overall in the nation and second in the ACC. In addition, the middle hitter has registered 18 matches with a hitting percentage of .400 or higher and has racked up 256 kills this season [2.35 kills/set].
Off the court, the Lake Zurich, Ill., native was named a finalist for the prestigious Senior CLASS Award.
Graduate student Kadi Kullerkann has made a name for herself at Pitt following her transfer from the University of Houston. The opposite hitter leads Pitt in kills with a total of 414, which breaks down to 3.80 per set. Additionally, Kullerkann has reached double-figure kills in 20 consecutive matches. The streak has increased her total to 28, which is all but two matches this season.
The Estonian native ranks second in points [4.37/set] and fifth in kills [3.80/set] in the ACC.
Pitt will conclude its regular season this week with matches against Virginia Tech and Virginia at the Fitzgerald Field House. The Panthers take on the Hokies tonight at 6 p.m. and will end conclude play with the Cavaliers on Friday at 4 p.m.
