GREENSBORO, N.C. – Pitt head women’s basketball coach Suzie McConnell-Serio, along with student-athletes Stasha Carey and Brenna Wise, participated in the ACC Women’s Basketball Media Day on Wednesday at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro.
“Today was great. I am so proud of how Stasha and Brenna represented Pitt,” McConnell-Serio said. “We are excited about ACC basketball. I got to spend times with the coaches and media, and the players got to mingle with the other player representatives, so all around it was a great day.”
Pitt was in the afternoon session from 1:45-4 p.m., which featured film breakdown with TV analyst Debbie Antonelli, interviews with Raycom and Fox Sports, a live press conference on ESPN3, and fun social stations provided by the ACC.
“Today was a great experience and I had a lot of fun with it,” said Wise, a freshman entering her first season at Pitt. “There were moments of seriousness and moments of silliness, but overall it was a great experience and I was glad to be here and represent Pitt. It was a neat to engage with other ACC athletes and be down here with other people who share our same passion for the game.”
The Panthers were picked to finish 10th in the preseason polls according to both the ACC coaches and the media’s Blue Ribbon Panel. Notre Dame was chosen to win the league with 41 first place votes, while Florida State was second with eight first place votes.
Notre Dame sophomore Brianna Turner was dubbed the preseason player of the year, while the Irish, Duke and Florida State each had two players on the preseason all-conference team.
The Panthers are just over three weeks away from their first game of the season which comes against Wagner on November 13 at the Petersen Events Center. Click here to purchase tickets.
