GREENSBORO – Head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio, along with senior guard Brianna Kiesel and freshman forward Yacine Diop, will head to Greensboro, N.C., to participate in ACC Women’s Basketball Media Day on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Coaches and players from all 15 ACC schools will take part in multiple events throughout the day which includes TV and print interviews, social media platforms and a press conference.
While in Greensboro, the ACC preseason poll and preseason all-conference teams will be announced. The Panthers boast a legitimate candidate for postseason awards in senior Brianna Kiesel. Entering her final season, Kiesel ranks 10th all-time in scoring with 1,348 and is 13th in career assists with 289 at Pitt. Last season she became the first player in program history to lead the Panthers in both scoring and assists for a third straight season. Kiesel was one of the top guards in the ACC last season and just missed postseason accolades on the court but was named to the All-ACC Academic Team.
Arguably the best basketball conference in the country, the ACC is coming off a league-record eight teams that were selected to the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Pitt is one of five schools to boast a top 25 recruiting class along with Duke, Notre Dame, Louisville and Virginia.
The ACC returns three AP All-Americans from last season and seven All-ACC performers. There are no less than four ACC teams represented in the various preseason polls that have been released.
