Eight Panthers Receive NFCA Scholar-Athlete Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Eight players from the 2013 University of Pittsburgh softball team were named to the 2013-14 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division 1 Scholar-Athlete List. This recognition is annually presented to softball student-athletes who carry a GPA of 3.5 or higher during that specific academic year.
Pitt's NFCA scholar-athletes include: Morgan Choe (Jr. - Kirtland, Ohio), Taylor Henry (Jr. - Harrisburg, Pa.), Alexa Larkin (Sr. - Greensburg, Pa.), Carmelena Moffa (Jr. - Greensburg, Pa.), Maggie Sevilla (Jr. - San Diego, Calif.), Carly Thea (Sr. - Merrick, N.Y.), Carissa Throckmorton (Sr. - Hanover, Pa.) and Lauren Vinson (Graduated - Prince George, Va.)
The NFCA honored over 4,500 student-athletes from all divisions, including Divisions I, II & III, along with NAIA, Junior College, and high school (both weighted and non-weighted).
*Note - The academic years listed above represent the student-athletes current year of academia. The NFCA award is representative of their eligibility from last year.
