PITTSBURGH—Head Coach Holly Aprile announced the addition of centerfielder Jordan Fannin to Pitt’s softball team. Fannin joins Savannah King, Carly Thea, Maggie Sevilla, Alexa Larkin, Carissa Throckmorton, Alicia Keough and Nikki Caruso as the incoming class of 2012.
A Katy, Texas native, Fannin is a four-year starter at Pope John XXIII High School. She is a three-time all-district selection and two-time all-state honoree.
"We are thrilled to have Jordan become a member of the Pitt Panther softball family,” Aprile said. “We expect her to have a big impact on our success next year and beyond."
Playing her final high school season, Fannin currently ranks among the top-10 in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPP) in virtually every category this year. Her five doubles, 1.067 slugging percentage, 38 runs and 33 RBI lead all players. Additionally, she ranks second in stolen bases (22), fourth in batting average (.517), sixth in on-base percentage (.603) and seventh in homeruns (2).
As a junior, Fannin earned all-district, all-state and District MVP honors after splitting her time between shortstop and centerfield.
Fannin plays tournament softball for the Houston Power. Last year, she played in the [Class of] 2011 Adidas “Futures” All-Star Game as member of the Power.
A two-sport athlete, Fannin is also a member of her high school soccer team. She led her squad to the DIII state championship in 2009 and was named second team all-district. Fannin is also excellent in the classroom, as she carries a 3.3 GPA.
The Lions enter the playoffs with a 19-6 record.
