PROVIDENCE, R.I.—The Big East released its weekly volleyball awards, and University of Pittsburgh senior Imani Harper was named to the Big East’s Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in her career.
Harper (Yonkers, N.Y./Temple) garnered Big East accolades after leading the Panthers to a 2-1 week. Action began on Sept. 21 with a 3-2 victory over George Washington, where Harper recorded her first double-double of the season with 19 kills and 10 blocks. Next, she swung for 21 kills in a four-set win over DePaul, setting a career-high in that category.
Additionally, Harper’s 10 blocks against the Colonials ranks second in the conference for individual match highs, and first for blocks in a four-set match. Those 10 blocks matched a season best, which were attained against St. Francis (Pa.) a few matches ago.
On the season, Harper has tallied 159 kills to date, and 26 in Big East play. She ranks seventh in the Big East for overall hitting percentage (.343). However, she is third amongst the league during conference matches (.511).
The Panthers have won five of their last six matches. They travel to Rutgers on Friday, Oct. 1, for a 7 p.m. contest.
