Women's Volleyball Opens Big East Action on the Road

PITTSBURGH--On a four-match win streak, the University of Pittsburgh women's volleyball team opens Big East Conference play this week with matches at DePaul on Saturday, Sept. 25, and Notre Dame on Sunday, Sept. 26. Both are set to begin at 2 p.m.
Pitt (5-10) is coming off a 3-2 victory over George Washington on Tuesday night. In the game, senior Imani Harper posted a career-high 19 kills, and a season-high 10 blocks for her first double-double of the season. Senior Amy Town recorded a double-double also with 16 kills and 11 digs.
Defensively, the Panthers have out-blocked their last four opponents 42-26.5. Harper leads the way with 49 stuffs on the year. Additionally, sophomore Margy Acton holds a 4.0 digs per set average in the last four contest, and boasts a team-high 178 digs to-date.
DePaul (1-12) is coming off a loss to Northern Illinois on Tuesday night, in straight sets. The Panthers are 6-0 all-time against the Blue Demons.
Notre Dame (8-5) started the week coming off a winless Notre Dame Invitational outing. However, the Fighting Irish turned things around Friday with a sweep over West Virginia. Notre Dame holds a series lead of 19-7 all-time against the Panthers.
