PITTSBURGH—University of Pittsburgh Head Softball Coach Holly Aprile announced the hiring of Jen Chamberlin as an assistant coach today. Chamberlin joins Aprile’s staff alongside Gina Fuchs.
“We are thrilled to have Jen join our coaching staff,” Aprile said. “She brings an abundance of knowledge and new ideas to our program, which I believe will be integral to our success both on and off the field.”
Chamberlin enters her first season with the Panthers and will assist with the infield and hitting. She spent the 2010 season as an assistant coach with Saint Mary's College (Calif.) softball program. Her primary responsibilities included work with the hitters and infielders while assisting with the practice planning. Chamberlin also supervised the student-athlete’s academics and study hall, while assisting with recruiting, travel and video.
Prior to her tenure at Saint Mary’s, Chamberlin spent a year as an assistant softball coach at Coastal Carolina University and served the 2008 season as a student assistant at her alma mater North Carolina State.
A standout player for the Wolfpack, Chamberlin was a four-year starter in the infield. She was a three-time ACC All-Conference honoree and was a 2007 All-Region selection. Chamberlin concluded her career with a .304 batting average, 225 hits, 49 home runs and 155 RBI. She also holds the program’s home run title (49).
Following a 2007 graduation with a degree in sports management, Chamberlin played for the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Champion Washington Glory.
