Damon Named to Big East Weekly Honor Roll

PITTBURGH—Following a successful 2-1 weekend for the Pitt softball team, sophomore infielder Ciera Damon earned Big East weekly honor roll accolades, league officials announced on Monday.
Damon (Ellwood City, Pa/Lincoln) started all three games against St. John’s this past weekend. She led the team in batting average for the week at .625 and collected five hits, one run, three RBI and one homerun.
After tallying just one hit in game one’s 7-2 victory against the Red Storm, Damon went 3-for-3 with three RBI and collected her third homerun of the year in game two of the doubleheader.
Her three RBI included her solo-homer over the centerfield wall and a single to left field, driving in sophomores Jessica Rhodunda and Kristen Cheesebrew.
Defensively in game two, Damon recorded 12 putouts and collected 27 total on the weekend. On they year, Damon leads the team with 307 putouts.
Damon also recorded a hit in the third game of the series, a loss 6-0 to the Red Storm.
The Panthers travel to South Florida for a midweek doubleheader against the Bulls. Action begins on Wednesday, April 21, starting at noon.
