Pitt Gymnastics Falls At New Hampshire

The Pitt gymnastics team suffered an East Atlantic Gymnastics League meet Saturday afternoon at the hands of New Hampshire, 194.950-191.675. The Panthers fall to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in EAGL action.
Pitt’s evening was highlighted again on the vault as the Panthers scored a 49.075. Sophomore Alicia Talucci (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) led all gymnasts with a 9.975, followed by Pitt freshman Meaghan Biros (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) with a 9.850.
On uneven bars, the Panthers scored a 47.975 and were led by Sarah Thompson (Shokan, N.Y./Onteora), who recorded a 9.700. Jessica Byich (Nicktown, Pa./Bishop Carroll) scored a 9.650 and Biros was close behind with a 9.625.
Tallucci again led Pitt on the balance beam with a 9.800 to finish fourth overall. The Panthers recorded a 46.900 on the event with Shannon Vafiadou (Mahwah, N.J./Mahwah) scoring a 9.725.
On floor, Vafiadou led the team with a 9.750 while Molly Moyer (Telford, Pa./Buxmont Christian) scored a 9.650 to help lead Pitt to a 47.725 team score on the event.
Talucci won her third all-around title of the season with a 38.850 on the day. She was joined by teammate Meaghan Biros, who finished second with a 38.625 in her first collegiate all-around competition.
Pitt returns to action Friday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. as it hosts Iowa State, Brockport and Rutgers at Fitzgerald Field House.
