PITTSBURGH—Head Softball Coach Holly Aprile announced the 2010 spring schedule, which is different than recent years due to the new three-game series against Big East opponents.
The Panther’s begin their spring season traveling to five different tournaments. Similar to last year, Pitt will start its tour in Boca Raton, Fla., where it will compete in the Florida Atlantic Tournament on Friday, Feb. 19, through Sunday, Feb. 21. The Panthers face Minnesota, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Maryland.
Next, the Panthers travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. on Saturday, Feb. 27, to play four games in the North Carolina Tournament. Then, Pitt heads west on Saturday, March 6, to play four games in the two-day Morehead State Tournament held in Morehead, Ky.

The Panthers will then host their home opener at Trees Field on Tuesday, March 24, against Youngstown State. Pitt then opens its Big East slate on Saturday, March 27, with a double header against Providence.
Next, Pitt hosts a non-conference mid-week doubleheader against St. Francis before beginning its three-game series against Big East opponents St. John’s (April 17/18), Seton Hall (April 24/25) and Syracuse (May 1/2). This is the first year that Pitt will play in three game series.
The Panthers travel to Villanova (April 1 and 3), Georgetown (April 10/11), USF (April 21) and Rutgers (May 8/9) in conference action.
In non-conference action, Pitt will also host doubleheaders against Kent State (April 8) and Robert Morris (May 5), while facing Penn State (April 6) on the road.
