PITTSBURGH—Coming off a bye week, Pitt’s softball team travels to Youngstown State, this afternoon, for a non-conference doubleheader at 3 p.m., at McCune Park.
Pitt (21-22) resumes action this week following an off-week for finals and studying. Prior to the break, the Panthers won three of their four Big East conference games, which were on the road. Pitt first swept Seton Hall (8-3, 7-5) and then earned a split with Providence (1-2, 8-4).
Freshman Ciera Damon led the charge with an 85.7% slugging percentage and 42.9% batting average. Defensively, Damon has moved to first base and held a perfect 100% fielding percent in 32 chances, that weekend.
The Penguins stand at 8-35 on the season and are coming off a 6-5 come-from-behind victory over Butler. Last season, the Pitt swept Youngstown State (11-3, 8-2) in a pair of home games at Trees Field. In the all-time series, the Panthers lead with a 16-2 record.
