Mother Nature Calls Game Between Panthers and Nittany Lions

PITTSBURGH – For the third time this season the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University had a scheduled game called due to inclement weather.
The Panthers and Nittany Lions got through just over an inning before rain prompted a half hour delay. After the 25 minute delay, play resumed and the Nittany Lions evened the score at 1-1. Within 30 minutes however, the rain clouds reappeared and proved to be enough to call the game.
Pitt got on the board in the first after Chris Sedon drew a walk and advanced to third on a Frank Mercurio single through the left side. Mercurio stole second on the next pitch and Sedon raced to beat the throw back home, giving the Panthers a 1-0 lead.
No make-up date has been set between the two schools. Pitt will be in action tomorrow as they travel to Lorain, Ohio to take on Cleveland State in a non-conference matchup at the Pipe Yard. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
