MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Shavonte Zellous scored 25 points, overcoming first-half foul trouble, to help No. 15 Pittsburgh beat West Virginia 72-60 on Tuesday night.
The Panthers (21-5, 11-3 Big East) were down by 12 in the first half, but used a 44-point second half to win for the 10th time in their past 11 games.
Zellous picked up her second foul with 12:18 remaining in the first half and was forced to sit for the next seven minutes as her team cut the deficit to eight. She returned with 5:19 left in the half and the Panthers went into the locker room up 28-27.
Pitt started the second half with six consecutive points, but West Virginia (15-12, 3-10) wouldn't go away as Takisha Granberry made a 3-pointer to halt Pitt's momentum.
With the Mountaineers leading by two, Zellous' layup started a 12-0 run to seal the victory.
Liz Repella scord 17 points and Granberry added 16 for West Virginia.
Pitt ended the game on a 15-7 run to secure the victory and clinched at least a No. 3 seed for the Big East Tournament.
