Women's Volleyball is Set to Host Two Matches

PITTSBURGH—Coming off a weekend sweep of Big East opponents, the University of Pittsburgh women’s volleyball team will host conference foes Notre Dame and DePaul, respectively, at Fitzgerald Field House, this weekend. Both matches start at 2 p.m.
Panther fans are encouraged to wear white on Saturday, Oct. 17, as we “White Out” Notre Dame, during Field House Frenzy. Activities during the match include a serving contest between sets, t-shirt tosses, poster making and a Student Spirit Contest. White leis will also be giving to fans.
Winning its last three conference matches on the road, Pitt (13-7, 5-1 Big East) returns home to defend its perfect 6-0 record at Fitzgerald Field House. In this week’s RPI rankings, Pitt was listed as 36th. The Panthers were the second-highest Big East team mentioned, with the Fighting Irish at 16 and Cincinnati was third at 56th overall.
Notre Dame (11-4, 5-0 Big East) travels to Pittsburgh riding a five-match win streak, and are the only conference team without a loss in league play. In the storied series between Pitt and Notre Dame, the Fighting Irish lead with an 18-8 record, however Pitt has won the last four meetings.
The Blue Demons (6-13, 0-5 Big East) enter the weekend on a six-match skid, dropping shutouts to Louisville and Cincinnati, last week. Senior outside hitter, Sarah Cullen, leads DePaul with 44 kills. Pitt leads the series 5-0 and will meet DePaul after their match against West Virginia on Saturday.
