Women's Volleyball Signs Hartman

PITTSBURGH--The University of Pittsburgh women' volleyball team added Lauren Hartman to its incoming class of 2008. Hartman joins the team as a middle hitter from Baldwinsville, N.Y.
A recent graduate of CW Baker High School, where she finished 18th in her class, Hartman recorded 554 kills, 126 blocks and 58 aces in her career. She also led her team to four league titles and second-place finish in the state as a junior.
Winning 75 matches and falling in just six, Hartman holds school records for career blocks and kills. She also boasts the league record for single-season and career blocks and kills.
As one of four New York Life Scholar Athletes, Hartman was an Onondaga High School League Player of the Year as a senior, two-time all-state honoree and three-time all-section and all-league awardee.
Hartman has been named a Dunkin Donuts Channel 3 Athlete of the Week, a Two-Sport Scholar-Athlete, Gatorade Rookie of the Year and Onondaga Female Athlete of the Year.
A pentathlon league champion for the CW Baker track and field team, Hartman also participated in the Empire State Games for three years, where she won a silver and bronze medal in three years for the Central Scholastic team. Hartman plans to study nutrition and dietetics.
