Pitt Men's Soccer Falls 3-1 Against DePaul

CHICAGO, Il.--The No. three seed in the red division, DePaul defeated the No. six seed in the blue division Pitt 3-1 in the opening round of the Big East Tournament. The game was held at DePaul's campus site.
DePaul improves to 8-6-4 overall. The Blue Demon's will face the No. two seed in the blue division, Connecticut, on November 8 on the Huskies campus.
DePaul got off to a quick start, scoring in the third minute of the game when Nathan Feltz flipped the ball past the goalkeeper. The Blue Demons added two more goals in the first half, the first when Mark Plotkin shot a one-timer from eight yards out on an assist by John Kornfeld. The final goal of the first half for the Blue Demons came when Nathan Feltz collected a deflection and scored for his second goal of the game.
The Panthers lone goal came in the 50th minute when Chris Wilcox made a shot over the keeper. For the game, Pitt was outshot 18-7 including 13-1 in the first period.
Both goalkeepers for the Panthers saw action in the first round match. Eric Barnes played the first period and made four saves, while Jordan Marks played the second, making two saves and giving up zero goals. Coming into the game, Pitt was tied with Seton Hall for the most saves in the Big East (86) and averaging 5.06 per game.
The loss ends the Panthers' season with a final record of 7-8-3 overall and 3-6-2 in Big East play. Senior E.J. McCormick led the Panthers with 11 points on the season (three goals and five assists). Barnes and Marks split time in goal and combined for a 1.16 GAA. On the season, both McCormick and Prince-Wright had two game winning goals.
