Women's Volleyball Travels For Two League Matches

PITTSBURGH--Pitt's women's volleyball travels to DePaul and Notre Dame, this weekend. The Panthers play against the Blue Demons on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m., then face the Fighting Irish at 2 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 12.
Pitt (10-8, 3-1 Big East) is out-blocking its opponents 172.5-131.5 on the season. In league play, the Panthers lead 56-33.5 in the same category, including 2.3 blocks per set.
Additionally, freshman Hannah Swysgood (Sunbury, Ohio/Big Walnut) recorded a career-high 12 block assists, while junior Meagan Dooley (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) earned nine block assists in the Georgetown match.
The Panthers were on a seven-match win streak prior to spliting its weekend against USF (3-2) and Georgetown (2-3) last weekend.
Sophmore Amy Town (Orillia, Ontario/Orillia) and senior Kelly Campbell (Mansfield, Ohio/Mansfield/Pacific) recorded double-doubles against USF. Town tallied 17 kills and 10 digs, while Campbell posted 16 kills and 13 digs in the match. Campbell then posted another double-double the next day with 10 kills and 12 digs against the Hoyas.
Dropping a pair of matches in conference play, DePaul (1-15, 0-4 Big East) was led by Kate Letcher, who posted seven kills, three aces and one block against Louisville. Pitt holds a 6-0 lead in the series over the Blue Demons.
Notre Dame (8-8, 3-1 Big East) is coming off a 3-1 loss to Cincinnati, where Christina Kaelin earned a match-high 17 kills. The Panthers trail 18-8 in the series, but has earned the win in the last three matches.
The Pitt-Notre Dame game will be promoted as the `Dig for the Cure' match and available on Notre Dame's all-access link.
