Campbell Named Big East Player Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Pitt junior Kelly Campbell was named Big East Volleyball Player of the Week after an impressive performance during the Panther's 2-0 conference opening weekend. This is Pitt's second player of the week award this season.
Campbell (Mansfield, Ohio/Mansfield/Pacific) led the Panthers, as they hosted preseason favorite Notre Dame and DePaul at home. She recorded 42 kills for a 6.0 kills per game average and tallied a .355 hitting percentage.
In the Fighting Irish contest, she boasted a career- and game-high 30 kills for a .348 hitting clip and a Big East best for a four-game match. During an intense 42-40 game four, she recorded 11 kills in the win.
The next day she returned to action against the Blue Demons and garnered a double-double for her efforts, posting 12 kills and 11 digs. She also notched a season-high .370 hitting average in the 3-0 sweep.
The Panthers (8-7) are on a three-match win streak and a five-match unbeaten home record. This weekend they travel to No. 21 St. John's (Saturday, 2 p.m.) and UConn (Sunday, 2 p.m.).
